It is completed by interviewing a caregiver who knows the person well. It yields a social age and, compared with chronological age, a social quotient. Adaptive behaviour is central to defining intellectual disability, so a measure like this usually accompanies an intelligence test. ## Who it is for It is used across the age range, especially in the assessment of intellectual and developmental disability, where adaptive functioning must be documented alongside IQ, including for disability certification.
