Malayali Therapist in Bangalore: Online Counselling in Malayalam
Looking for a Malayali therapist in Bangalore? ElloMind's psychologists are based in Kochi and offer online counselling to people across Bengaluru by video, in Malayalam or English. If you have been searching for a therapist in Bangalore who speaks your language, this means no commute, no waiting room, and someone who already understands where you come from.
Why see a Malayali therapist in Bangalore online
Therapy in your own language
Talk about home, parents and feelings in Malayalam, switch to English for work, and never have to translate yourself mid-sentence.
No commute on top of the commute
Whether you work in Whitefield, Electronic City, Koramangala or near Manyata, the session comes to you. Join from home, your PG or a meeting room.
Someone who gets the distance
Being far from family, the weekly call home, the pressure to visit for every function. Your psychologist understands that context without needing it explained.
Times that fit around work
Sessions run Monday to Saturday, with evening slots after work, and you see each psychologist's open times when you book, so you can plan around work and the commute.
What a counsellor in Bangalore can help with
Most people who look for counselling in Bangalore are not in a crisis. They are tired in a way a weekend does not fix, anxious before every review, lonely in a big city, or stuck between what their parents expect and the life they are building. A psychologist helps you make sense of it and change what you can, one session at a time.
Common reasons include work stress and long hours, worry that will not switch off (see anxiety treatment), a low mood that has lasted weeks (see depression treatment), relationship and marriage strain, homesickness, and family pressure about marriage, money or moving back. If you are studying in Bengaluru, our page on student counselling covers exam stress and hostel life. If you want a quick read on where you stand first, try the stress self-check.

What our clients say
I had tried several therapy sessions in the past without seeing any noticeable changes in my thought patterns. Then, I decided to give Ello Mind a try. My therapist, Teresa, is very friendly, and I was able to connect with her perspective right away. She has already helped me make a positive change during one of the lowest points in my life.

Ello Mind is a really good centre for mental health and wellness. From the very first session, they created a safe and supportive space where I felt comfortable opening up. I highly recommend Ello Mind and Ms Teresa to anyone looking for compassionate, professional, and effective therapy.

I had a great experience with Ellomind. I worked with Teresa and she is a wonderful therapist. Helped me get my thoughts sorted and gave some effective exercises that helped me on my mental wellness journey. I am giving this feedback a few months after my sessions ended and still feel great. The effects of the therapy are long lasting.

Teresa was able to correctly identify that I had issues with confidence and assertiveness using the right questions and exercises. She then taught me CBT frameworks and techniques that helped me improve my self-image. Teresa is very open to receiving feedback and integrating it into subsequent sessions.

I’ve been taking sessions at Ello Mind since 2023, and Teresa has helped me overcome many things. She doesn’t just give advice — she helps you understand yourself better. She listens patiently and really tries to understand what you’re going through. I genuinely appreciate her work and highly recommend Ello Mind.

10/10 experience. Really good place, I felt super comfortable opening up here. Ellomind gave me a safe space to talk and feel understood. The therapists are kind and supportive, I always leave feeling lighter. Honestly the best decision I made for myself this year.

Starting couple therapy with Teresa has been one of the best decisions for us. Therapy helped me calm down, reflect on my own patterns, and recognize how both of us were struggling and growing together. It truly brought more clarity, understanding, and peace into our relationship.

Is online therapy as effective as seeing someone in person?
It is the first question most people in Bangalore ask, and the research answer is reassuring. A 2021 meta-analysis pooling 47 studies that compared live video therapy with other groups found that therapy by video led to large improvements and that the difference from in-person therapy was negligible, with the strongest results for anxiety, depression and PTSD, and when CBT was used.1 A second 2021 review of 43 treatment studies, covering more than 4,000 clients, found video-delivered care produced effects largely equivalent to in-person care, while noting that more randomised trials are still needed.2
In practice, a few things make online counselling work well: a private room or a parked car where nobody can overhear, headphones, a steady connection, and the same psychologist each week. For many people in Bangalore it also removes the reasons sessions get skipped, such as a late meeting or an hour on Outer Ring Road. If you are in crisis, please use the support further down this page rather than waiting for a session, and if your psychologist feels another kind of care would suit you better, they will tell you.

Finding a good psychologist in Bangalore
A good psychologist in Bangalore, or anywhere, has three things: the right training, experience with what you are going through, and a manner you feel safe with. Training means a master's degree in clinical or counselling psychology; clinical psychologists in India are also registered with the Rehabilitation Council of India. Experience is about fit: someone who works with anxiety, couples or grief, rather than a generalist list of everything. Feeling safe is the part only you can judge, usually within the first session or two.
Language matters more than many people expect. Malayalam counselling in Bangalore means you can describe what is happening at home in the words you use at home, which often brings out the thing that was hard to say. Our guide on how to choose a psychologist walks through the questions to ask, and more on sessions in your own language is on our page about online counselling in Malayalam.

Psychologist or psychiatrist?
A psychologist offers talk therapy: 50-minute sessions working through anxiety, low mood, stress, relationships or grief, with methods such as CBT. A psychiatrist is a medical doctor who diagnoses conditions and decides on medication. Many people need only one; some benefit from both. If your psychologist thinks medication could help, they will tell you and suggest seeing a psychiatrist in Bangalore, and your sessions with us can continue alongside that.
If you need help right now
If you are struggling to stay safe, please reach out today rather than waiting for a session. Tele-MANAS offers mental health support in Malayalam and other languages on 1800-89-14416 (24/7). If you are in immediate danger, call Emergency Services on 112. More options, including ways to reach out without speaking aloud, are on our crisis and support helplines page.
Questions about therapy in Bangalore
ElloMind is an online practice. Our psychologists are based in Kochi, and every session with clients in Bangalore happens over secure video, so you can attend from home, your hostel or a quiet room at work without crossing the city.
Yes. Every ElloMind psychologist speaks Malayalam and English, and you can switch between the two during a session.
Check their qualification (a master's degree in clinical or counselling psychology, or for clinical psychologists, registration with the Rehabilitation Council of India), whether they work with your concern, and whether you feel comfortable talking to them. Each ElloMind psychologist's training and focus is listed on their profile, and you can switch if the fit is not right.
People come for work stress and burnout, anxiety, low mood, relationship or marriage strain, loneliness and homesickness, family pressure from back home, and big decisions such as a job change or a move. You do not need a diagnosis to book.
Sessions run Monday to Saturday, including evening slots after work. When you book, you see the open times with each psychologist and pick one that fits around office hours and the commute.
Your sessions are private and confidential. ElloMind does not contact your employer or your family. The one limit is safety: if there is a serious risk to your life or someone else's, your psychologist may need to act to keep people safe.
Fees depend on the type of session and whether you choose a single session or a plan, and a single session comes with the option to pay after it. Each session is 50 minutes. See current pricing.
For most common concerns, research says yes. Large reviews comparing therapy by live video with therapy in the same room have found outcomes that are very close, especially for anxiety and depression. What matters more is a qualified psychologist, a good fit, and a private place to talk.
Our psychologists provide talk therapy and do not prescribe medication. If your psychologist thinks medication could help, they will tell you and suggest you see a psychiatrist in Bangalore, and therapy can continue alongside that care.
