What our clients say
Starting couple therapy with Teresa has been one of the best decisions for us. Therapy helped me calm down, reflect on my own patterns, and recognize how both of us were struggling and growing together. It truly brought more clarity, understanding, and peace into our relationship.

I had tried several therapy sessions in the past without seeing any noticeable changes in my thought patterns. Then, I decided to give Ello Mind a try. My therapist, Teresa, is very friendly, and I was able to connect with her perspective right away. She has already helped me make a positive change during one of the lowest points in my life.

I’ve been attending therapy sessions with Hyma ma’am, and the experience has been incredibly positive. She creates a safe and comfortable environment, allowing me to open up and explore my thoughts at my own pace. Her approach is both professional and compassionate. I’m truly grateful for the progress I’ve made with her guidance.

I cannot thank Ms. Hyma enough for her incredible support and guidance. She helped me manage my anxiety issues and regain the energy and confidence to handle my work, as well as find time for my hobbies. She helped me organize my schedule effectively and deal with situations rationally. Definitely recommend!

I had a great experience with Ellomind. I worked with Teresa and she is a wonderful therapist. Helped me get my thoughts sorted and gave some effective exercises that helped me on my mental wellness journey. I am giving this feedback a few months after my sessions ended and still feel great. The effects of the therapy are long lasting.

Teresa was able to correctly identify that I had issues with confidence and assertiveness using the right questions and exercises. She then taught me CBT frameworks and techniques that helped me improve my self-image. Teresa is very open to receiving feedback and integrating it into subsequent sessions.

I’ve been taking sessions at Ello Mind since 2023, and Teresa has helped me overcome many things. She doesn’t just give advice — she helps you understand yourself better. She listens patiently and really tries to understand what you’re going through. I genuinely appreciate her work and highly recommend Ello Mind.

Finding the right therapist in Sharjah
Sharjah has a growing set of mental health services. MOHAP licensed psychologists and counsellors practise across the emirate, and hospitals like University Hospital Sharjah and Saudi German Hospital offer psychiatry departments. But a single session typically costs 500 to 1,000 AED, and most therapists are not Malayali. If you are looking for counselling from someone who understands your culture, the options narrow quickly. Explaining family dynamics, the guilt of being away from aging parents, or the pressure of sending money home takes sessions when your therapist does not share that background.
There is also the matter of stigma. In some Gulf workplaces, seeking mental health support can feel risky, especially for people on employer-sponsored visas. Online therapy with a practice based in India sidesteps that entirely. Your sessions are private, your records are not connected to any local healthcare system, and you are speaking with someone in Kerala. Most of our Gulf clients prefer Manglish, a mix of Malayalam and English, in sessions. There is no need to code-switch or explain cultural context from scratch.
If you need medication, that still needs to be managed by a psychiatrist, either locally in Sharjah or back in India. Our psychologists will tell you if they think medication could help and guide you toward the right next step. We do not prescribe, but we will not let you stay stuck either.
Do you need therapy or psychiatry?
They do different things. Here is how to decide.
Psychologist
Psychiatrist
Some people benefit from both. If our psychologists feel medication could help, they will refer you to a psychiatrist, either locally in Sharjah or back in India.
Psychiatrists and mental health hospitals in Sharjah

Questions about therapy for NRIs in Sharjah
Yes. All our psychologists speak Malayalam and English fluently. Most of our Gulf clients prefer Manglish, a natural mix of Malayalam and English, in sessions. You can switch between languages however you like. Our psychologists are Malayali and understand the context of living away from home.
Our sessions run from 10 AM to 7 PM IST, which is 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM UAE time (GST). Most of our Gulf clients book afternoon IST slots, which fall in the morning or midday in the UAE. This works well before or during a lunch break.
Individual therapy starts at ₹1,049 per session (roughly 46 AED) with a multi session plan, or ₹1,499 (roughly 66 AED) for a single session. This is significantly more affordable than therapy in the UAE, where sessions often cost 500 to 1,000 AED.
Yes. Online therapy produces the same outcomes as in person sessions. For NRIs, it has an added benefit: you get to speak with someone who understands Malayali family dynamics, cultural expectations, and the specific pressures of living abroad, something a local therapist in the UAE may not fully grasp.
Yes. We work with Malayalis across the UAE and the wider Gulf including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, and Oman. Since all sessions are online, your location does not matter as long as you have a stable internet connection.
The top three reasons our Gulf clients seek therapy are relationship issues, OCD and anxiety, and infidelity. Beyond that, we regularly work with homesickness, work visa stress, family expectations from back home, parenting between cultures, and burnout.
Yes. Couples therapy is one of our most requested services from the Gulf. Both partners join the same video call from wherever they are. Our couples therapist, Priyamvada, uses Emotionally Focused Therapy and works regularly with couples dealing with infidelity, trust, and the strain that distance puts on a marriage. Sessions are 50 minutes at ₹1,399.
Yes. Family concerns are one of the most common reasons Malayalis in the Gulf reach out: conflict between spouses, tension with in-laws back in Kerala, parenting disagreements, or a teenager who is struggling. Sessions happen over video in Malayalam or Manglish, and the people involved can join from different locations, one partner in Sharjah and one in Kerala included.
The first session is a conversation. Your psychologist will ask about what brought you to therapy and what you would like to work on. There is no pressure to share everything at once. You will also get a chance to ask questions and decide if you want to continue.
